What ages do you cater to?
2 to 99 – literally!
Are you a nut-free facility?
We are a nut-free kitchen and do no cook with any nuts, nut butters, flours or oils. However, some of our ingredients are produced in a facility that is NOT nut-free.
Do you accommodate those with special dietary or food allergy restrictions?
We will make every attempt to accommodate students with allergies and dietary restrictions. Call with specific questions and we can recommend certain classes that will work for you and/or suggest a substitute ingredient for you to bring. We can even design a special event just for you and your friends.
What should I wear?
Dress in comfortable clothes that can get messy! It’s always more fun to cook in style so our aprons are available for your use or purchase at all classes and in our online store.
Where do you get your recipes?
All (or nearly all) of our recipes are developed by us to be delicious, introduce new ingredients, techniques, and more! We structure classes and events that bring our recipes to life and make cooking a true culinary adventure.
How many people does your kitchen hold?
We keep our classes small (no more than 16-20 students) but we can hold up to 30 students for a private event. We work with outside venues for larger events.
Who are your teachers?
We are a fun-loving bunch of ladies and gents who love kids and food. All staff are energetic, supportive, hard working with extensive teaching and culinary experience. Stop by our kitchen and say hello, we can’t wait to meet you!
Can children with disabilities or special needs attend your classes?
We love all kids so give us a call and we can discuss if a specific class is the right place for your child. We also have the option of a private event if a class is not the right forum for your child’s needs.
Can I bring wine to your adult cooking classes?
Yes! Most adult classes are BYOB. You are welcome to bring wine, beer, soda or your favorite beverage. We’ll provide cups and an opener!
What is plans change and my child can’t attend an event we are registered for?
We must be notified via email 7 days prior to the start of the event or the entire payment is forfeited. If notified within the designated time frame, we will issue a TBK Culinary Credit for the exact amount less a $5 event change fee.
When do you offer parties?
We are available for birthday parties and other private events all day on weekdays (mornings, afternoons and evenings) and at 11:00, 2:00, 5:00 and 7:30pm on the weekends.
Will you come to my house or favorite space for an event?
Absolutely! Just let us know where and when and we’ll be there. Additional travel fees apply.
What are available add-ons for my party?
Our parties are really wonderful as is, but if you’d like to add-on deluxe options, we have a wonderful list to choose from
- Cupcake Decorating / $100
Our most popular add-on. While everyone’s delicious recipes are in the oven we bring out freshly baked cupcakes for each child. They get to decorate them with bright colored frosting in piping bags and decorative sprinkles. They can decorate a complimentary cupcake container to bring it home in or enjoy their cupcake in place of birthday cake! Character decorating available for an additional $50.
- Deluxe Party Favors / Varies

- Outside Food / $50
You are welcome to bring in extra food for the event. You bring the food and we provide the set up, plates, utensils, and napkins.
- Adult Fee / $100
For parties with more then 10 adults in attendance, this provides for an extra staff member on duty to ensure a welcoming and professional environment. This is included for all 90 minute parties in the price of.
- Additional Time / $200 per 30 minutes
If you would like an extra half hour at Taste Buds Kitchen you can reserve it in advance for each extra half hour. Great if you would like to have your own performer come in or would like extra time to open gifts or hang out. (The fee does not include additional entertainment from Taste Buds Kitchen during this time.)

If you would like us to take care of the birthday cake we order them through Buttercup Bakery. You’re guaranteed a tasty cake! You are also welcome to bring your own free of charge.

While we hold most of our events on-site at Taste Buds in our Kids Kitchen in Chelsea, we are available to travel to other locations for larger parties and/or for those seeking a location on the Upper East Side. Click for details and pricing for the venues that we partner with to host Taste Buds Parties. An additional $100-200 travel fee applies. Site fee varies with location.

Can older children go to a 90 minute party for 2-7 year olds?
Absolutely! The recipes are great for all ages and younger kids love it when they have an older friend to help them cook.
Can younger children go to a 2 hour party for 7-14 years olds?
Our 2 hour parties are a lot more intensive than the 90 minute parties and designed for older chefs, so we recommend staying within the age limit. However, if you have a few children just under the age of 7 we should be able to accommodate them
When do you hold camps?
Whenever school is out, we are in with a festive and fun 3-hour camp. This include all school holidays, week-long holiday/winter/spring breaks and all summer long.
Where do our camps take place?
All camps take place in our kitchen with the exception of our Urban Foodies Travel Camp which visits restaurants around the city and then come back to TBK for hands-on cooking experience for the last part of camp.
Are the recipes different each week of camp?
Yes, the recipes are different each week which allows a child to attend more than one camp without repeating recipes.
Should my child eat a meal before and after camp?
Yes. Please plan for your child to eat breakfast/lunch before and after camp. We always eat what we make but depending on our menu and your child’s taste buds, they will each more or less depending on the day
Can I register for few days of camp instead of the full week?
Sometimes. Our summer and spring break camps are designed about a fun weekly theme which encourages full-week sign-ups. If a given camp is not sold out 7-days prior to it’s start date, single-day registrations ($100 for camps in our kitchen; $125 for travel camps) will open-up. To check availability, add the camp to your cart and single day options will appear if available. A note that single day registrations do not include an apron so be sure to purchase an apron during check out or your child can borrow one of ours for the day.
Do you offer a full-day camp option?
We do not offer a full-day camp option for children under 10. Children 10+ are welcome to apply to be a Counselor-in-Training for a full day experience from 8:45-4:00 (learn more here). Additionally, children 11+ can register for our morning Urban Foodies camp from 10:00-1:00 and our afternoon camp from 1:00-4:00 for a full day experience from 10:00-4:00. Registering for both the Urban Foodies and the afternoon camp will get you $50 off the price of the week.
I see you offer camps for ages 4-teen. Do you offer anything for ages 2-3?
Yes. We offer many weekly with caregiver classes for ages 2-4. View our weekly class schedule to join in the cooking fun.
Can I drop my child off early / pick-up late?
Yes. We know it’s not always possible to fit our camp times into your schedule so we offer early drop-off from 8:30am-9am. Early drop-off fees are $15/day.
I have a 3.75 year old, can they attend your 4-8y camp?
Usually. As long as they are completely potty trained and used to a drop-off environment, it is not a problem. Additionally, it’s best if they can attend with an old sibling to ensure they feel comfortable.
I have a 7 year old and a 9 year old and I want them to attend the same camp?
This is definitely possible and best for both to register for our morning camp for 4-8 year olds. Our afternoon camp is very technique based and children under 9 are not able to register.
When are your bake sales and do I need to attend?
Join us for a Bake Sale out front of our building to benefit our favorite good cause – Cookies for Kids Cancer – every Thurs at 11:30 for morning campers and 3:30 for afternoon campers. Parents are encourage to attend in support of your budding chef but it is not required. Pick-up will be at usually time on Thursdays from our lobby instead of the kitchen.
