Teaching Assistants (TAs) – Apply Today!
If you enjoy kids and cooking and want get your hands dirty, our Teaching Assistant Roles are for you. Use your talents to help us with our classes and events. Responsibilities include assisting the Lead Teacher, engaging the students, helping with class activities, preparing the recipe, keeping everything running smoothly, keeping the kitchen clean and organized and pre-baking food as needed. Our goal is to help you develop your skills so that you lead your own class with the kids at least once during your commitment. If you have these skills and would like to work with a growing organization that is kid and food focused, Taste Buds Kitchen would love to meet with you! Classes meet at our Chelsea location or in schools around the tri-state area. This is a volunteer position; class credit is available if desired. Additionally, this is a great way to learn more about Taste Buds Kitchen and progress to a paid position in future semesters if you’re a great fit. Many of our past Teaching Assistants are now Managers!
Qualifications: Comfortable in classroom setting and working with students (ages preK-8th grade), background with cooking, comfortable monitoring behavior of students, general assistant-ship skills.
NOW INTERVIEWING FOR – SUMMER TEACHING ASSISTANTS: Assist with Summer Camps at Taste Buds Kitchen, must be comfortable teaching your own table of kids 4-8y and 9-13y. Must be available for a minimum of 8 weeks this Summer starting June 9th until September 5th, Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm (Mon/Wed 5:30pm). Summer Teaching Assistants receive a stipend of $1000 for their 8 week commitment.
EVENT TEACHING ASSISTANTS: Most private events at Taste Buds Kitchen are held on weekends at 11:00am, 2:00pm, or 5:00pm. Select events occur on weekday afternoons. A $20 stipend is provided for each event, plus gratuities are always split evenly between the crew, if provided.
ADULT TEACHING ASSISTANTS: Classes and private events are held on weeknights and weekend evenings. A $20 stipend is provided for each event, plus gratuities are always split evenly between the crew, if provided.
Event Teachers – Apply Today!
Want to join our team of oh-so-fabulous Chef Instructors and/or our Full-Time Office Team? We are looking for great teachers to join our Weekend Team (commitment of 6 months required), our Weekday After-School team (weekly commitment for the entire semester) and our Office Team. Candidates must love kids, food and have a strong teaching background. Early education degrees, culinary school and other formal training is strongly preferred for Lead Teaching Roles. Here you will indicate your weekly availability (dates/times), experience and interest.
Qualifications: Must be able to work in fast paced environment, have knowledge of all age groups (3y-16y) and ability to communicate with all ages. Event teachers must have basic culinary knowledge and skills, ability to follow direction and work with a team.
Office & Marketing Intern – Apply Today!
If you enjoy organization, processes, being prepared, social media, and spreading the word about Taste Buds Kitchen, our Office and Marketing Internship is for you. Use your talents to help us keep Taste Buds Kitchen running with event-prep and administrative tasks in the office such as – updating event binders, processing donations, uploading/sorting photos, updating class marketing board, folding new aprons, making recipe books, assembling cookie mixes/party favors and more. Use your talents to help us with marketing items such as – updating Facebook and twitter, checking haro.com, going postcard flyering, writing blog posts, updating the press book and more. If you have these skills and would like to work with a growing organization that is kid and food focused, Taste Buds Kitchen would love to meet with you! Reports each week to our Chelsea Kitchen. This is a volunteer position; class credit is available if desired. Qualifications: Comfortable working in an office setting, organized, professional, comfortable with computers, comfortable promoting Taste Buds Kitchen.
8-15 hours per week during normal business hours.
Hamptons Summer Camp Lead Teacher
Taste Buds Kitchen is looking for instructors in Long Island this Summer to start June 23rd! Do you love kids and cooking? We are hiring Lead Teachers for our Summer Camp locating in Bridgehampton (The Art Farm). Taste Buds Kitchen specializes in creative and unique cooking events for kids, families and adults. Our culinary adventures combine a well-balanced mix of engaging recipes, both savory and sweet. We strive to create a lifestyle around connecting families, and learning and growing in the kitchen.
Lead Teachers are responsible for the overall running of their classes from A to Z from picking up ingredients (we will set a grocery budget for this) to teaching an amazing class, fostering the relationship with the families and ensuring a great experience for all.
- Strong teaching background. Early education degrees are strongly preferred. Most kids are ages 4 to 10.
- This is a part-time job. Must be able to commit to working June 23rd-August 22nd from 8am-12:30pm each day. The first week is a training week at Taste Buds Kitchen in Manhattan.
- Available to work private lessons and parties outside of set schedule as interest arises.
- Must have a car/transportation option for self and groceries.
- Be highly organized and self motivated
- Passion and high level of comfort with cooking and baking.
- Must have excellent references.
