Autism Friendly Cooking Class
Join us for a special autism friendly culinary adventure.
Taste Buds Kitchen is pleased to offer children on the autism spectrum, and their siblings, an opportunity to cook up a new and delicious culinary adventure each week in our signature “Let’s Make” weekly class, specially adapted to meet the needs of children with ASD. Recipes will vary from savory to sweet as we focus on ingredients, tastes, techniques and making new friends. All recipes are nut free. Class size is limited to allow our budding chefs to participate in an unique kitchen environment where they learn, laugh and cook together. This is a Drop-Off class unless discussed with our staff in advance.
Taste Buds Kitchen staff has been trained in the Developmental Individual Differences Relationship-based (DIR®) model to best promote the education and development of children with neurodevelopmental disorders of relating and communicating, including PDD and autism.
Additional learning objectives include:
- Development of social interaction and communication skills
- Development of abstract concepts
- Learning of sequencing skills
- Exploring new foods
- Following instructions
