It’s a busy time of year which means everyone is looking for easy ways to prepare meals and snacks that have a healthy kick.  That’s why we love this healthy hummus recipe. It’s simple to make and can easily be doubled (or tripled) in quantity to feed a crowd. In addition to being delicious, hummus is loaded with fiber, plant-based protein, and healthy fats that keep us feeling satisfied.

Thanks to the new KitchenAid 7 Cup Food Processor, all of our ingredients are quickly combined making our hummus smooth and ready in under 5 minutes. We love this new model of the classic Food Processor — its unique design makes it easy to use with a one-click and twist-free bowl and clean-up is a breeze as the bowl, lid and accessories are dishwasher-safe. And best of all, it’s so easy to store with all accessories fitting neatly inside the bowl so we aren’t searching around for our blades! A big thank you to KitchenAid for sending us this awesome food processor to try. We couldn’t love it more! 

Hummus is also a fun recipe to make and a great way to get your little ones involved in the Kitchen. Give your budding chefs age appropriate tasks that keep them active and learning new skills! Have a 4-year old? Ask them to count out chickpeas and line them up in rows of 10. Have an 8-year old? Ask them to juice your lemon and remove the seeds. Have a 12-year old? Ask them to lead you through the recipe, helping them to learn safe knife skills as you chop the parsley for your garnish.

Hummus is a fairly simple recipe so there is lots of room for you to get creative with your hummus! Try adding different flavors like roasted red pepper, fresh herbs, sun-dried tomatoes or marinated olives. Hummus can also be used as a spread for sandwiches and wraps, added to olive oil for a creamy salad dressing or even used as a pizza “sauce”. So, what are you waiting for? Hummus Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 can canned chickpeas
  • 3 tablespoon chickpea water (from canned chickpeas)
  • 2 tablespoon tahini
  • 1/2 garlic clove
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  • Place all hummus ingredients into the bowl of a food processor or use an immersion blender and blend until smooth.

  • Taste for desired saltiness and garnish with parsley. Enjoy!
