Who’s ready to ROLL?!

Join us as we make soft pretzels from scratch with Amanda Marijanovic, owner of TBK Bannockburn, IL, and her 11 year-old sous-chef Miles! Learn the trick to whipping up our traditional soft pretzels. They really are as good as they sound. Yum!

The tools that you will need are mixing bowls, measuring cups, measuring spoons, baking sheet, spoon, whisk, pastry brush, oven mitts and a timer.

If you’d like to make gluten-free soft pretzels, substitute rice flour in place of all-purpose flour.

This is one of the videos that launched our At-Home Cooking Club in the early days of COVID. Soft Pretzels Recipe
Makes: 6 soft pretzels

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon yeast
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • BAKING SODA MIX
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees.

  • Add warm water, yeast, and brown sugar to a large mixing bowl. Stir to dissolve. Then add flour and salt in small increments, stirring to combine and eventually kneading the dough until smooth and elastic. Place dough in a well oiled bowl, cover and let rise at least 30 minutes.

  • While dough is rising, make the baking soda mixture. Mix baking soda and warm water in a bowl.

  • After dough has risen, pinch off bits of dough (about 3 oz pieces) and roll into a long rope about 1⁄2” thick. Shape into desired soft pretzel shape. Brush formed pretzels with baking soda solution and place on a baking sheet (do not use parchment paper as pretzels will stick). Bake for 8-10 minutes or until golden.
