Kids Who Cook
Cooking with kids is one of our favorite things to do here at Taste Buds Kitchen. Starting at two years old, we see kids grow in our Kitchen in as little as a weekend workshop to a full-week camp. The Kitchen is a unique environment that allows young minds to be creative, hands-on and very messy! A child’s culinary adventure will not only provide the family with delicious treats, but can benefit his or her learning in many ways. Here are some of our favorite benefits to cooking with kids:
- Encourages budding chefs to try new things. Not only will making their own recipes inspire them to try new foods, but kids who cook are also likely to be more adventurous in general.
- Builds basic skills. Cooking brings science, math and teamwork together. Whether it’s reading the recipe directions, measuring out ingredients, or working with other budding chefs to make a finished product, cooking at TBK puts the textbook skills into action.
- Boosts confidence. Accomplishing new skills or improving on old ones helps kids build confidence every time they work in the Kitchen. Our camps and after-school semester classes build on this confidence and we see a significant change in our budding chefs from the very beginning.
- They bring it home! Thankfully, our kids make enough to share! Along with a take-home bag of what they made, they bring home the experience of cooking and love to share what they learned with their family and friends.
So, kids, let’s get cooking! Join us for a weekend workshop, after-school semester class, holiday or summer camp, or private lesson and let us see your culinary creations!
