How to Form a Cannoli Shell

a piece of cake sitting on top of a wooden table

Want a quick and easy way to form a cannoli shell? Wonton Wrappers!

We love Cannoli. In addition to making them from scratch in our Taste of Italy adult class, our kid chefs love whipping them up in our summer camps and semester classes.

Wonton Wrappers are not just for making wontons, here at TBK we use them for tons of recipes including Lasagna Cupcakes, Fortune Cookies and Cannoli Shells.

To make this simple recipe, brush both sides of wonton wrapper with vegetable oil.  Gently roll the wonton wrapper round the cannoli form and place seam side down on a parchment lined baking sheet. Sprinkle with sugar all around.  Bake in a 375 °F oven for 10-15 minutes until golden brown.  Let cool and remove shells from rolls.

Once cool, the shells are ready to fill with your favorite cannoli filling.  We love a ricotta and cream cheese filling with orange zest and chocolate chips, yum yum yum!

TBK Tip: Wonton Wrappers can be found at most grocery stores in the freezer section – or you can order them online. Cannoli forms can be found online or at your local restaurant supply store.

Cannoli Shells Recipe

Makes: 12 shells

12 cannoli forms
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
12 3.5″ wonton wrappers
3 tablespoons sugar

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Form the cannoli shells first. Brush cannoli forms with vegetable oil. Wrap thawed wonton wrapper around cannoli form. Brush wrapped wonton paper with vegetable oil, sprinkle with sugar and place on baking sheet with the seam-side down. Bake 5-7 mins or until golden, rotating pan if necessary.

Allow to cool and fill with your favorite cannoli filling. Yum!
