Summer Camp 2019

It’s almost Summer Camp Season in our Kitchens!

Are you ready to escape the ordinary and embark on a culinary adventure? Taste Buds Kitchen is here to tell you exactly how to make Summer 2019 the BEST SUMMER EVER! As the deadline for making summer plans approaches, we know parents will have a few questions about why attending a cooking camp should be first on the list of to-do’s! Read on for answers to our Top 10 most Frequently Asked Questions about cooking camps at Taste Buds Kitchen.

1. What is a typical day of camp like?

Each day (3 hours) of camp features a variety of recipes, both savory and sweet, that campers will make from scratch with the help of our expert chef instructors (At least one instructor to every six children). Cooking, baking, decorating…we do it all!

2. Is every week the same?

No, we schedule a different theme of camp every week of the summer! From Baking 101 to Super Foodies, we have a theme (or themes) for everyone. New this year, All American Road Trip – a culinary road trip across America where campers will taste their way through our country’s regional flavors on this sweet and savory chef’s adventure. Also in the lineup is an all-new Advanced Teen Camp designed for teens to learn advanced cooking skills while exploring the many facets of the food world and find their true food identity!

3. What age group is ideal for cooking camp?

Whether your child is 4 or 17, Taste Buds Kitchen has a summer camp option for you! All of our programs are divided by age group with age-appropriate activities, tools, games, and instruction. Younger campers will enjoy being entertained by our fun chef instructors while older campers will be encouraged to explore their creativity and perfect their skills in the Kitchen.

4. Do I have to sign up for the whole week?

No. Although it is encouraged, campers may sign up for individual days or a full week. Full week campers will go home with a FREE Taste Buds Kitchen apron at the end of the week. Single or multi-day campers may purchase an apron to take home. Shared aprons are borrowed during the camp day.

5. What should my child bring?

Nothing but their smiling face. We provide everything your child will need to have a fantastic experience at cooking camp.

6. Will my child make friends?

Absolutely! Whether they come solo or with a friend, they’re sure to make NEW friends around the table. Our instruction style encourages teamwork as well as individual expression.

7. What will my child bring home?

We create culinary masterpieces every day – recipes from each day of camp will be emailed to the parent or guardian so that they can be re-created at home. Some samples of each day’s recipes will come home with your child so that they can share the wonderful food they made at camp (that’s if they can package some up without eating it!). Full week campers will bring home a FREE Taste Buds Kitchen apron. Single-day campers may purchase an apron to bring home.

8. Is it safe?

Of course! We provide age-appropriate activities and tools for all of our budding chefs. Whether it’s an immersion blender or full-size KitchenAid mixer, our young chefs are given the opportunity to explore the Kitchen tools that are approved for their age group and under direct supervision of our team of instructors.

9. Are there allergy-friendly recipes?

Yes! As a policy, all of our Kitchens are nut-free. Many of our recipes are designed to be allergy friendly, i.e. egg-free or dairy-free, but that does not mean that every recipe of each day will be free of those allergens. If your child has a food allergy of concern, call your local Kitchen and they will advise you on the day(s) of camp which will be safe for your child to attend. 10. What is a Bake Sale at Taste Buds Kitchen?

In some markets, Bake Sales are held on the Thursday of each week of summer camp. Our campers spend the day baking cookies, brownies, and other treats to sell to family, friends, and neighbors at the end of the camp day. All proceeds from the bake sale are donated directly to Cookies for Kids Cancer, a non-profit organization. For more information about Cookies for Kids Cancer and Taste Buds Kitchen, click here.
